TeamLiquid/Alienware Valorant Roster 2025

Art Direction, Storyboard and Animation

Team Liquid is renowned for its highly creative annual Roster announcements, building anticipation among fans as
they unveil their new members for the next season.
For the 2025 Roster, the creative team drew inspiration from medieval illustrations and invited me to collaborate alongside their team
and two illustrators. I was responsible for creative guidance, storyboarding, and animation, helping bring this unique vision to life
in a dynamic two-minute video.

Like everything in the online gaming world, the pace was fast, leaving little room for error. From concept creation to approval and production,
every step had to be executed efficiently.

Thanks to a highly talented team, we quickly aligned with Team Liquid’s creative vision and Alienware’s expectations.
We crafted the storyboard and illustrations to be both efficient and animation-friendly, focusing only on the essential elements.

To be honest, I had never heard of Valorant and had no idea how huge these online teams had become!
These guys are real celebrities in the gaming world.

After two months, and thanks to the great response from the fan base on social media, we created a second video to announce the newcomers.

Production:

One thing that really motivated me in this project was the weird medieval references. But that made the research all the more fun.
We put a lot of effort into studying the elements closely and carefully selecting only the best and most fitting details for the project."

Another thing I love about great projects is when everyone embraces their organic evolution. A lot of things didn’t work at first, mainly because the style felt too plain for a long script packed with information. But as we went along, the project evolved and developed its own unique identity. The Team Liquid creatives were great at collaborating, embracing all the ‘happy accidents’ that came along, and blending the medieval style with the illustrators' touches and my animation/storyboard direction.

I had a lot of fun with this project. Good vibe from start to finish!
